Bring AI-written posts and pages into WordPress as drafts, with images, categories and templates set. Export existing content for AI review.

== Description ==

Writing a post with Claude or ChatGPT is quick. Getting it into WordPress is not: copying text, re-uploading every picture, setting the featured image, alt text, categories, tags and the excerpt, one post at a time.

Instant Import does that part. Content is written as a **content pack**, a zip with the text of each post or page and its pictures, which the plugin imports as drafts with everything already in place.

1. Tools → Import content pack → **Download the spec**. The spec is made for your site: the content types you allow and their categories, custom fields and templates, the picture sizes your theme wants, your colours and house style, and the posts and pages to link to. Every site gets its own, so packs fit the site they are for.
2. Give the spec to your AI assistant, along with what you want written and any photos. It hands back a zip.
3. Upload the zip on the same screen. Every item becomes a **draft**, with its featured image, pictures in the text, galleries, categories, tags, page template and parent page already set, as WordPress blocks.

The report lists what was created, with edit and preview links, and anything to check before publishing (a missing excerpt, an image without alt text, a category that had to be created).

To give your assistant something that already exists as context, use **Export** under any item: you get it as a content pack with its pictures and the spec, for writing new items that fit with it.

= Made for your site =

Settings → Instant Import chooses what a pack may hold: which content types (posts, pages, and your theme's or plugins' own, such as events or products), which templates show their own heading, featured-image sizes and your house style. Custom fields registered with WordPress and every taxonomy of each type come with them. The **starter kit** adds a JSON schema of your site's pack format and an example pack.

A pack written from another site's spec, or from an older version of this site's, still imports, with a note to check what no longer fits.

= Proper blocks, not one big Classic block =

Paragraphs, headings, lists, quotes, code, tables, buttons, columns, expandable sections, pictures (linked or captioned), galleries and YouTube or Vimeo videos all become the blocks the editor itself would make, so nothing opens with an "unexpected or invalid content" warning. Links between items in the same pack (`{{link:about}}`) are set to the right address once everything exists, and shared blocks (synced patterns) can be placed with `{{block:slug}}`.

= Page builder content =

Tools → Page builder content scans your site for pages drawn by **Thrive Architect** or **Elementor** and shows how much of each would carry over into ordinary blocks: text, headings, pictures, buttons, columns, lists, tables, videos and toggles, and what can't (forms, countdowns, maps). It reads the builder's stored copy, so it works with the builder switched off, and it changes nothing.

= Safe by design =

* New items are created as drafts. Nothing new is published (a shared block is created published, because an unpublished one shows nowhere, and does nothing until an item uses it).
* Items that already exist are left as they are.
* Only manifest.json, content.html and images are read from the zip. A zip that tries to write outside its folder is rejected outright, and image files are checked to be real images.
* SEO titles and descriptions in a pack are written only when Yoast SEO or Rank Math is active; otherwise the theme uses the excerpt.

= No external services =

Nothing is sent anywhere: the plugin makes no connection to any AI service or other server, and needs no account or API key. You use whichever assistant you like, and the pack comes back to your own site.

= Instant Import Pro =

[Instant Import Pro](https://www.accessnow.com.au/projects/instant-import/) adds the other direction and the conversion:

* Export existing posts and pages for your assistant to review, and bring the changes back as updates, after a preview or as staged copies someone approves, with undo.
* An export list for picking items from any screen, export of a whole content type, and WP-CLI commands.
* **Blockshift:** convert Thrive Architect and Elementor pages into blocks, as a review copy you approve, with undo.

== Installation ==

1. Install and activate the plugin.
2. Go to Settings → Instant Import, tick the content types a pack may hold, and add your house style.
3. Go to Tools → Import content pack and download the spec for your AI assistant.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Where do I get help? =

Help articles: https://support.accessnow.com.au/help/workspace-accessnow/accessnow-instant-import

To ask a question, use Get support on the project page: https://www.accessnow.com.au/projects/instant-import/

= Which AI assistants work? =

Any that can read a document and give back a zip file: Claude, ChatGPT and others. Give it the spec (or the starter kit) and ask for a content pack. In a project (Claude Projects, ChatGPT Projects), keep the spec as project knowledge and replace it when the site changes.

= Does it publish anything? =

No. New items are always drafts, for you to read, adjust and publish.

= What happens to an item that already exists? =

It is left as it is, and the report says so. Updating existing items from a pack (after a preview, or as a staged copy someone approves, with undo) is part of Instant Import Pro.

= Can I import pages for a custom post type? =

Yes, for any public content type with an editing screen. Tick it in Settings → Instant Import and it, its taxonomies and its registered custom fields go into the spec.

= Does the page builder scan change my pages? =

No. It only reads each page's stored builder data and reports what would carry over. Converting pages is part of Instant Import Pro.

= What does it store, and what is removed when I delete it? =

Its settings, a site ID that ties packs to this site, and a working folder in uploads (accessnow-instant-import/) for packs being imported. Deleting the plugin removes all of those. Imported posts, pages and pictures are your content and stay.
