Your pages load in your own browser as WordPress alone would serve them, then as your site serves them now, in alternating order. You see the image weight each page saved, page by page, on desktop and phone.
Theme and plugin images
Header pictures, backgrounds and icons that come with your theme and plugins, and any other folder you choose, are recompressed and get WebP and AVIF copies, like your uploads.
Nothing leaves your server
Images are compressed on your server with WordPress’s own image editor, and the speed test runs in your browser on your own site. No account with an image service, no API key, no quota.
Every original kept
Theme and plugin originals are backed up outside their folders, so an update can’t remove them, and put back with one click. The Backups panel counts them with the rest.
Honest numbers
Timings are medians of three loads with their range, and a difference that could go either way is reported as “no clear difference”, never as a gain. On a site where nothing is optimised yet, measure first and compare later.
A result you can pass on
Print a summary or save it as PDF, download the full table as CSV, or copy a plain-text summary for an email. The last 20 results stay in your WordPress admin, with no public link.

How Pro compares
Most image optimisers send your images to the vendor’s servers and sell a monthly allowance, or keep AVIF for the paid version. Image Optimizer does all of its work on your own server with WordPress’s own image tools, with no image service account and no limit, and Pro is priced by the number of sites, not by the number of images. Pro adds a before-and-after speed test that measures the image weight each page saves on your own site, in your own browser; we found nothing like it in any of the others’ plugin code. Frequently asked questions
How long does the launch price last?
Buy before 30 April 2027 and you pay 30% less every year, for as long as you keep renewing. If you let a licence lapse and buy again later, it is at the price of the day.
What do I get with a lifetime licence?
Pro on the number of sites you choose, paid once, with updates and support for as long as Image Optimizer Pro is sold. There are only 100, across all three sizes.
What happens if I stop renewing?
Everything keeps working: the speed test, theme and plugin images, and every feature of the free plugin. You stop getting updates and priority support. Renewing brings them back.
Will the speed test say my site is seconds faster?
It says what it measured, no more. The image weight each page saves is measured reliably on any site. How much sooner the largest image appears depends on the connection: on a fast connection close to the server the difference is often too small to call, and the test then says “no clear difference” rather than claiming a gain. A visitor on a phone network gains more than you will see at your desk.
Does a copy on my own computer or a staging site use a licence?
No. A copy on your own computer never uses one of the sites you paid for: localhost, or an address ending .test, .local or .dev. Neither does a staging copy online, as long as its address is clearly a staging one: staging.yoursite.com, dev.yoursite.com, or your host’s own staging address. A copy at an ordinary address, such as yoursite-new.com, counts as a site. You can move a licence from one site to another from the plugin’s settings page.
Does Pro replace the free plugin?
Yes. Pro installs in the same folder as the free plugin: WordPress offers to replace it, and your settings, backups and WebP and AVIF copies carry straight over. Everything the free plugin does keeps working, licence or not.
Where do my images and results go?
Nowhere. Images are compressed on your own server. The speed test runs in your browser, on your own site, and its results stay in your WordPress admin; nothing is sent to us or anyone else. Activating a licence checks the key with Freemius, our licensing platform, which also delivers updates; your images and results never go with it.
Is there a free trial?
No, but the free plugin does everything except Pro’s two tabs, so you can see what it saves on your Media Library first.
