Comparing Site Replica Pro vs BlogVault for staging and going live? Both let you work on a copy of a WordPress site and merge it back while choosing which tables to keep, and both can roll back. The big difference is where the work happens: BlogVault is a managed service that runs staging on its own servers, while Site Replica Pro works directly between your own sites. Here is how they compare.
Who each tool suits
BlogVault suits people who want a fully managed service: off-site copies, staging hosted on BlogVault’s servers, a comparison of staging against live, merges that pick tables, rollback, safe updates and visual update testing, all looked after for them.
Site Replica Pro suits site owners, freelancers and agencies who build on their own computer or a staging address, want their data to go only between their own sites and their own cloud storage, and need to put a redesign onto a live site that kept taking orders and sign-ups.

Where BlogVault is better
- Fully managed. BlogVault looks after the service for you, with off-site copies kept away from your server.
- Staging without a second site. Its staging is hosted on its servers, so you don’t need a local copy or a staging address of your own.
- Visual update testing and safe updates. It tests updates visually.
- First-year price for one site. At the sale price of US$49.50 on the day we checked, Personal costs less than Site Replica Pro’s usual US$59, though more than its US$29.50 launch price until 30 April 2027, and its staging copy is kept for 1 day on that plan.
Where Site Replica Pro is different
- Your sites, no service in between. Backups travel directly between your sites, encrypted, or to the Google Drive or S3 storage you connect. There is no AccessNow service in between.
- Work wherever you like, for as long as you like. Build on your own computer or at a staging address; there is no hosted copy that expires. Copies on localhost, .test, .local and .dev addresses, and at clearly staging addresses, never use a licence.
- What changed, from the live site’s side. The report lists what the live site has gained since your copy was made: new and edited posts and pages, new users and comments, tables with new rows, and files added, changed or removed.
- People’s data suggested. Users, comments, and the orders, memberships and form entries of the plugins it recognises, such as WooCommerce, MemberPress and WPForms, are ticked for you on a sent backup.
- Review, then Keep or Roll back. The live site only stores what it receives until an administrator reviews the plan and types the site’s address. Afterwards you choose Keep or Roll back, with no time limit.
- An unlimited plan. Unlimited sites are US$199 a year (US$99.50 at the launch price until 30 April 2027), which suits agencies with many client sites.
What Site Replica Pro doesn’t do
To be fair about our own side too, a few limits are worth knowing before launch day:
- Settings always come from your copy. The options table is deliberately not offered for keeping, because a redesign whose settings didn’t come with it is not a redesign.
- The suggestion knows the common plugins, not all of them. A bespoke table your developer added years ago needs ticking by hand; What changed shows it if it has gained rows.
- Sending needs Pro on both sites, plus HTTPS and enough free disk on the live site. A copy on your own computer or at a staging address doesn’t use a licence, so one live site still needs only one.
Which should you choose?
Choose BlogVault if you want a hands-off managed service with off-site copies, hosted staging and visual update testing, and are comfortable with your site’s data passing through its servers.
Choose Site Replica Pro if you would rather build on your own computer, keep your data between your own sites, take as long as a redesign needs, and still keep the live site’s orders and members on launch day. How to push a staging site to live without losing orders explains the whole process.
Try it
The free Site Replica plugin pulls a copy of your live site to your computer, and backs up, clones and restores with Roll back. Get it from the Site Replica page, and when the redesign is ready, the plans are on the Site Replica Pro page.
Every step of a send, from “What changed” to Keep or Roll back, is in putting a redesign live in the help centre.
Switching from BlogVault?
Use the code SWITCH_BLOGVAULT at checkout for 30% off Site Replica Pro, for as long as you keep renewing (new customers only). Codes don’t combine, and until 30 April 2027 the launch price, half off for as long as you renew, is the better deal, so the plan buttons on the Pro page apply that one for you.
