Comparing Site Replica Pro vs WP Migrate? Both can push a WordPress site from your computer to the live server, both let you keep some live tables, and both send directly from site to site. The difference is the moment you go live. This comparison sets out what each does, at what price, and which suits whom.
Who each tool suits
WP Migrate (from Delicious Brains) suits developers who move databases between local, staging and live sites as a daily routine. Push and pull are in the Pro version, you choose which tables to migrate, you can preserve rows of the options table, and it has a mature find-and-replace screen and multisite tools.
Site Replica Pro suits site owners, freelancers and agencies whose hard day is launch day: putting a redesign onto a live shop or membership site that kept taking orders and sign-ups while the redesign was built.
Side by side
| WP Migrate Pro | Site Replica Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Price per year | US$49 for 1 site (sale; normally US$99), US$189 for 3, US$219 unlimited | US$29.50 for 1 site, US$49.50 for 10, US$99.50 unlimited (launch prices until 30 April 2027; normally US$59, US$99 and US$199) |
| Push a local copy live | Yes (Pro) | Yes |
| Keep live data | Choose tables; preserve options rows | Choose tables, with people’s data suggested |
| See what changed on live before sending | Not found | Yes: What changed report |
| Review and roll back | Optional backup of the target database first | Plan reviewed by an administrator, then Keep or Roll back |
| Vendor servers in between | No, direct | No, direct |
| Multisite | Yes, multisite tools | Back up only; network restore not supported yet |
WP Migrate’s prices are from its pricing page, and its push, pull and table options from its how-it-works guide. Both tools leave development and staging copies out of the site count.
Where WP Migrate is better
- Find and replace. It has a mature find-and-replace screen, a long-standing strength for developers who rewrite addresses and strings as part of every migration.
- Multisite. It has multisite tools. Site Replica can back up a multisite network but can’t restore one yet, so for networks WP Migrate is the one to look at.
- Options rows. It can preserve chosen rows of the options table. Site Replica always replaces settings with the copy’s, deliberately, and doesn’t offer that table for keeping.
- First-year price for one site. At the sale price of US$49 on the day we checked, it costs less than Site Replica Pro’s usual US$59 for a single site, though more than its US$29.50 launch price until 30 April 2027.
Where Site Replica Pro is different
Site Replica Pro is built around one job: replacing a live site with your redesign without losing what the live site gained in the meantime.
- It tells you what you are about to overwrite. What changed compares the live site now with the backup your copy was made from, and lists new and edited posts and pages, new users and comments, tables with new rows, and files added, changed or removed. You choose tables from facts, not from memory.
- It suggests the tables to keep. Users, comments, and the orders, memberships and form entries of the plugins it recognises, including WooCommerce, MemberPress, Gravity Forms and WPForms, are ticked for you on a sent backup.
- Sending changes nothing by itself. The live site only stores what it receives. An administrator there reviews the plan, types the site’s address and confirms, and afterwards chooses Keep or Roll back with no time limit. Roll back puts the previous site back exactly, files included.
- It moves files as well as the database. Only files the live site doesn’t already have are uploaded, in encrypted batches that resume after interruptions, and files that exist only on the live site are never deleted.
- It is a backup plugin too. Pull backups built for large sites on strict shared hosting, scheduled backups to Google Drive or S3, a copy of each plugin and theme before every update, and restores of only the parts you choose.
What Site Replica Pro doesn’t do
To be fair about our own side too, a few limits are worth knowing before launch day:
- Settings always come from your copy. The options table is deliberately not offered for keeping, because a redesign whose settings didn’t come with it is not a redesign.
- The suggestion knows the common plugins, not all of them. A bespoke table your developer added years ago needs ticking by hand; What changed shows it if it has gained rows.
- Sending needs Pro on both sites, plus HTTPS and enough free disk on the live site. A copy on your own computer or at a staging address doesn’t use a licence, so one live site still needs only one.
Which should you choose?
Choose WP Migrate if you are a developer who migrates databases every day, needs precise find and replace or works with multisite networks, and is comfortable deciding which tables to push.
Choose Site Replica Pro if your worry is launch day on a site that takes orders, members or enquiries, and you want to see what the live site has gained, keep it, and have a Roll back button if the result isn’t right. How to push a staging site to live without losing orders walks through that day from start to finish.
Try it
The free Site Replica plugin backs up, clones and restores whole sites; download it from the Site Replica page. When you are ready to send a redesign live, see the plans on the Site Replica Pro page.
Every step of a send, from “What changed” to Keep or Roll back, is in putting a redesign live in the help centre.
Switching from WP Migrate?
Use the code SWITCH_WPMIGRATE at checkout for 30% off Site Replica Pro, for as long as you keep renewing (new customers only). Codes don’t combine, and until 30 April 2027 the launch price, half off for as long as you renew, is the better deal, so the plan buttons on the Pro page apply that one for you.
