AccessNow Learn is a block theme for sites that teach. It is calm and easy to read, works with the block editor rather than around it, and was made to go with AccessNow LMS: course, lesson and quiz pages take on the theme’s colours automatically, in every style.
It was built for our guitar course, a free twelve-week course for complete beginners that is also the live demo of AccessNow LMS. The pictures below are that site.
Features
- Set in Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface the Braille Institute designed so letters are hard to confuse, bundled with the theme so nothing loads from Google
- Four looks: the default, Night (dark), Sand (warm) and High contrast, each checked so every text colour meets WCAG AA contrast
- Ready-made sections: a hero, how it works, feature cards, the course catalogue, questions and answers, a call to action, and a whole home page built from them
- A landing-page template (full width, no title) and a page template without a title, as well as pages, posts, archives, search and 404
- Clear keyboard focus everywhere, landmarks for screen readers, and respect for reduced motion
- Card, step-number and menu-button styles you can apply to blocks in the editor
Made for AccessNow LMS
AccessNow LMS exposes its colours to themes, so the theme sets about a dozen of them and every course page follows: buttons, progress bars, quiz options, the dashboard, in all four looks. Lessons and units can each have a header image shown as a full banner, a slim strip or not at all, so a long course doesn’t open every lesson with the same picture. The theme also works on its own, for any site.
