Site Replica copies a whole WordPress site, its database and wp-content, to another WordPress install such as a local copy on your computer. It was built for large sites on budget shared hosting, where the usual “make one big zip” backup plugins run out of time, memory or disk space.
The site being backed up only answers small, encrypted requests, so nothing large is ever written on its server. A restore imports everything into temporary tables first, your site keeps running until a short switch-over at the end, and you can roll back if you don’t like the result.
When a redesign is ready, Site Replica sends it back to the live site. It first shows what has changed there since your copy was made, such as new orders, members, comments and posts, and lets you keep those as they are. Only the files the live site doesn’t already have are uploaded, and nothing is replaced until you review and confirm it on the live site.
Scheduled backups go to Google Drive or S3-compatible storage such as Amazon S3, Backblaze B2, Cloudflare R2 or Wasabi. They are packed into small parts and uploaded one at a time, so even a site with very little free disk can keep backups offsite.
